The last functioning reactor at Ukraine's Chernobyl nuclear power station was shut down Monday due to an electricity malfunction, a duty engineer at the plant told AFP.
The fault, which occurred at 0400 GMT, will take approximately five days to repair, Sergi Shershun said.
No rise in radiation levels was initially reported.
Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma earlier this month confirmed that the ill-fated power plant, which suffered the world's worst civilian nuclear accident in 1986, will be shut down on December 15 -- KIEV (AFP)
