ALBAWABA- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has postponed his planned visit to the United States next week until further notice, in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to allocate Egyptian and Jordanian land for the displaced residents of Gaza.
In response to the meeting between Trump and Jordan's King Abdullah II in Washington, Egypt reaffirmed its firm stance against any forced resettlement of Palestinians outside Gaza.
Cairo has rejected multiple proposals involving the displacement of Gaza’s population, sending a clear message to Washington that it will not facilitate any relocation plans.
According to Al Arabiya sources, Egypt dismissed three different proposals that included resettlement and non-return policies, instead putting forward two alternative plans to address the crisis without evacuating Gaza’s residents.
Meanwhile, King Abdullah II has agreed to take in 2,000 sick children from Gaza for medical treatment but has not openly contradicted Trump’s broader plan.
Trump, who has repeatedly promoted the idea of removing all Palestinians from Gaza and transforming the territory into a high-end development project, claimed that the U.S. would “take” and “cherish” Gaza, dismissing the need to buy the land.
Despite rejecting the displacement proposal, Egypt’s decision to postpone the visit signals growing diplomatic tensions over the future of Gaza and the region.
