Recent research conducted by a number of Egyptian scientists at the National Anti-Radiation Agency has claimed that the electro-magnetic waves emitted from mobile phones can cause cancerous tumors, The Middle East reported Saturday.

Muhammad Ismail Al Gohary, head of the group of scientists, was quoted by the daily as saying that mobile phones cause great damage to the immune system and increase the risk of turning normal cells into cancerous ones by as much as 59 percent.

The researchers said that when animals were exposed to electro-magnetic waves that are higher than a hundred kilohertz, they developed a number of tumors, the paper said, noting that at 300 kilohertz accelerated cell-division occurs -- Albawaba.com
