An Egyptian man beat his magician uncle to death with a stick after his mother filed for divorce, claiming the man's sorcery was behind his parents' deteriorating relationship, a newspaper said Sunday.
Taxi driver Erfan Hassan, 32, gave himself up to police with the bloody stick still in his hand after smashing in the skull of his father's brother Abdel Rauf Hassan, 65, who was known to dabble in magic, Al-Akhbar reported.
The killer was detained after he told police in Damanhur in the Nile Delta that he had murdered his uncle because he believed an outbreak of arguments between his parents was the result of the dead man's magic, the paper said.
The paper did not speculate whether the killer's mother and uncle had a closer relationship -- CAIRO (AFP)
