A highly sophisticated operation is awaiting the Egyptian doctors who are seeking an international medical help to separate the two six-month old Siamese twins joined at the head.
"We are hoping, by international cooperation and by international consultation to reach the proper date and proper procedure and the proper place where they are going to be separated," Dr Nasser Abdel Al, the head of the neonatal surgical intensive care unit in Abu El Reesh hospital, said.
The twins, who are enjoying good health, were born by Caesarian section to a laborer, said The Associated Press (AP).
"Their rarity is because they are joined at the skull and at the brain, and this constitutes the difficulty and peculiarity of the condition," Abdel Al was quoted by Associated Press Television News as saying.
No date has been set for the operation, to separate Ahmed and Mohammed, but said the agency, it is unlikely to take place before two months, when their heads will be more developed – Albawaba.com
