Egypt has agreed to supply Jordan with natural gas for domestic use and possibly to re-export to the Palestinian territories, The associated Press (AP) reported Monday.

The gas, according the agency, will be imported from Shaikh Zwied District East of Al Arish in northeastern Egypt through an underwater cable in the Gulf of Aqaba,

Ahmad Basheer the Energy Ministry Secretary-General told agency that "the cable will stretch to the Red Sea port of Aqaba, 350 kilometers south of the capital, Amman."

Basheer declined to reveal the cost of the project and would say only that Jordan soon would be seeking financing for it -- Albawaba.com
