Egypt has decided to open 100 youth centers in underdeveloped areas on a yearly basis, reported Al Ahram Arabic daily, quoting the minister of youth, Aliyeddin Hilal as announcing Thursday.

The centers will be working to serve the youth in these areas and offer services to the local communities. They will be provided with Internet links to give thousands of youth the opprtunity to be in constant contact with the world developments, said the minister.

Two thirds of the current plan’s centers will be ready by the end of the year, he added.

Earlier in July, the Egyptian Ministry of Communication signed an agreement with the General Information Agency to establish 29 information technology (IT) clubs at media centers and complexes around the country.

The clubs will try to train young men in the uses of modern technology and enrich them with new skills so that they can find better jobs, according to the ministry.

The clubs will be established in two stages. Nineteen will be ready before September, and the other 10 to be set up before December.

The clubs will be equipped with 348 computers to provide Internet access and computer training at a very low price – Albawaba.com
