ALBAWABA - Egypt reinforced a massive border between it and Gaza that extends 60 ft below to take “unprecedented measures” and prevent any kind of penetration from the Palestinian side according to an associated press citing an Egyptian official.
The Egyptian official requested to not be named as they were not authorized to speak to journalists about the border between Egypt and Gaza. Photos and videos circulated on social media such as X (formerly known as Twitter) showcasing the border filled with barracks and cement tablets.
Egypt reinforces Rafah border with Gaza
The reinforcement came amid several humanitarian aid parties called for Egyptian officials to open Egypt's border for the people of Gaza amid the ongoing Israeli aggression as it has taken the lives of more than 23,000 Palestinians since October 7.
Israel was planning the possibility of displacing Gazans to Sinai, Egypt before the border was reinforced and armed amid the accelerated bombing and aggression on the strip holding approximately two million residents inside of it.
According to Al Jazeera, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, stated on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2023, that what's happening in Gaza is regarded as a great danger with the aim of “liquidating the Palestinian issue," and stressed how important it is for the residents of the strip to stay put.
