Egypt's higher education ministry has decided to cut by half the study fees for Palestinian students at universities and colleges because of the situation in the Israeli-occupied territories, a press report said Monday.
The government daily Al-Akhbar quoted minister Mufid Shehab as saying the measure would apply for the current academic year.
It had been taken because of "Egypt's support for the struggle of the Palestinian people and the difficult conditions they are going through."
The report said the concession would aid more than 3,000 Palestinians studying in Egyptian state institutes of higher education – CAIRO (AFP)
