Police in Egypt on Tuesday arrested 36 suspected Islamic militants who it said were seeking to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak's government.
The militants belonging to the banned Al-Takfir organization were rounded up in the Cairo and Nile Delta regions, north of the capital, a police official told AFP.
Leaflets calling on the population to "topple the regime and hate the (Egyptian) leader" and appealing for unity amongst Islamist groups were found at their homes and workplaces, the official added. (Albawaba.com)
