Hundreds of Egyptian artists took to the street in order to voice their disapproval of the Sharm El Sheikh summit and called for an emergency Arab summit meeting, reported AFP.

Actors, actresses, singers and songstresses burned Israeli and American flags in the middle of the street, blocking traffic. The security forces responded by forcing the artists back to their union headquarters, asking them to continue their demonstrations there.

The artists also asked for a document be drawn up, stating the most important points discussed which included “the refusal of a quadrilateral summit hosted by Barak, the cessation of normalization, the closure of Arab companies in Israel, the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador from the country, and the closure of the Israeli embassy in Cairo.”

Egypt’s most well known stars also asked that the Arab summit be held sooner rather than later.

Some of the names present in the demonstration included Youssef Sha’ban, Huda Sultan, Mohammad Hneidi, Ahmad Al Siqa’a, Nabila Ebeid, Jamil Rateb, Salah El Sa’adani, Ahmad Bdeir, Ashraf Zaki, Palestinian actor Ghassan Mattar, Tunisian songstress Latifa and Lebanese songstress Madeline Tabr. – Albawaba.com.
