In its continuing efforts to develop the education sector, the Western Region Development Council (WRDC) yesterday held its second forum in Mirfa for male school officials and principals from across the region.  The forum allowed WRDC and delegates to meet and address the day-to-day operational challenges faced by each school in the region and identify short and long-term solutions.

H.E. Mohamed Hamed Al Mazrouei, Director General, Western Region Development Council explains, "Education is one of our top priorities alongside healthcare and infrastructure for the region. Our objective is to create a prosperous environment that offers high standards of education for the residents of the Western Region. This second forum has allowed us to create an open dialogue between us and the senior education officials from the region. Now, we can work together hand in hand to help us achieve this aim."

The Western Region Development Council also presented its five year strategy to develop the education sector in the Western Region with all attendees.

"It is evident that the quality and standards of education in the region need to be improved - that is why we are taking pro-active steps like the Forum held yesterday. This meeting allowed us to present and discuss WRDC’s long-term strategy for developing education in the Western Region. However, as with any strategy or plans for the region, we believe it is crucial that key stakeholders are involved and have the opportunity to input so that all initiatives meet the requirements of each school in the region. This is vital for us to succeed and this is the way we will continue," concluded Al Mazrouei.

The inaugural education forum was held in September for female heads. These forums are enabling WRDC to regularly communicate with the region’s key education officials and most importantly, evaluate quick solutions to concerns that act as a barrier to delivering better education services in the Region.

WRDC has been instrumental in its development for the region by including and informing key stakeholders at each fundamental stage. They led the way in government transparency by conducting a majlis roadshow early this year throughout the region where more than 850 residents made their voices heard. By reaching out to each community, WRDC gained first-hand insight into local issues as residents talked face-to-face with the Director General of WRDC.
