Summer is with us once again and the event of the season, Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), is offering an exciting line up of activities for both children and adults all over the city.

Something to definitely look out for is The Market, a self-contained shopping mall based in the lush oasis of Green Community, and which is playing host to a series of DSS events running from 21st June through to 1st September.

Ten events, each with a different theme, will run at The Market over a ten-week period. The wide variety of themes in the event line up are designed to be both fun and educational:

Ice Surprises (21st June – 27 June)

Nature Surprises (26th July – 1st August)

Arts Surprises (28th June – 4th July)

Knowledge Surprises (2nd August - 8th August)

Food Surprises (5th July - 11th July)

Flower Surprises (9th August- 15th August)

Adventure Surprises (12th July - 18th July)

Heritage Surprises (16th August- 22nd August)

Cartoon Surprises (19th July- 25th July)

Back to School Surprises (23rd August - 1st September)

DSS at The Market has already kicked off to a fine start with Ice Surprises, setting the tone for what promises to be a fun-filled ten weeks for all involved.

Visitors enjoyed a range of activities including juggling, magic tricks and games, ice cream eating competitions, meet and greet the snowman, singing and dancing competitions, water relay games, and an ice sculpture and carving display.

The workshops on offer also proved tremendously popular and included colouring, painting and moulding, decorating jewellery with ‘pearl mosaic’ beads, designing your own photo frames and creating your own mosaic.

According to Lynda Soppelsa, Property Manager of Green Community, the response from visitors has been very positive.

‘Ice Surprises has been amazing, says Lynda. ‘This is only the beginning and we’ve had an enthusiastic response from visitors. It’s a great reward for us to see so many people leave at the end of the day with smiles on their faces.’
