dubai quality group organises benchmarking trip to uk

Provides members exclusive chance to learn from award-winning organizations to boost competitive performance in UAE

Dubai Quality Group (DQG), a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the general performance level of the local business environment, has recently announced that a team of DQG members will visit the United Kingdom to perform a benchmarking exercise with award winning organizations (SIEMENS Standard Drive & Grundfos Pumps) from October 28 to November 1, 2007. The initiative, dubbed the 'Benchmarking Trip to United Kingdom', is part of the range of innovative offerings DQG has prepared this year, aiming to provide members ample exposure to boost their competitive performance.

"Today's global market has prompted organizations to constantly improve their performance. In this regard, benchmarking has become a very effective tool in maintaining the competitive edge of organizations, allowing them to measure up various aspects of their operations based on concepts learned from the best performing enterprises. The upcoming Benchmarking Trip to the United Kingdom is another of our innovative programs that have made DQG a dynamic partner for progress," said Marwan Al Sawaleh, Chairman, DQG.

The benchmarking trip provides DQG members an exclusive chance to learn from award-winning organizations, allowing them to compare their processes, products and services continuously with some of the world’s top performing organizations. Described as one of the major management revolutions of the 1990s, benchmarking has become a highly profitable form of investment as average return has been found to be five times the cost of the study,  according to the American Productivity and Quality Centre.

Held in collaboration with specialized consultants “Khaled Khattab & Ali Fadhlani, the Benchmarking Trip to United Kingdom program will focus on the Leadership criterion of EFQM Excellence Model, and will cover four different phases: preparation workshop in Dubai, pre-visit workshop, actual site visits, and post-visit workshop. The preparation workshop includes an introduction to EFQM Excellence Model, RADAR scoring methodology and benchmarking tools and techniques.

The pre-visit workshop addresses best practices issues on leadership concepts, and introduces participants to host companies. The actual site visits will be conducted at two award-winning organizations in the UK, where participants will meet with senior managers and explore various areas related to leadership. The post-visit workshop focuses on gap analysis, building gap closure strategies and developing action plans.

"With organisations continually seeking new approaches and systems to enhance their market superiority, benchmarking is key to setting standards and creating a clear-cut path to success. It is a powerful change agent that cultivates a dynamic workplace and helps prevent complacency. DQG is pleased to provide a suitable platform that helps our members realize the advantages of benchmarking activities, Also I would like to express my appreciation to Dubai Holding for their continues support to our programs and encouraging their employees for serving the society   " concluded Al Sawaleh.
