The Department of Dubai Courts has finished from setting up its internet site, connecting all courts in Dubai to enable lawyers and other concerned citizens of certain cases from following up their case via the internet.
Lawyers and members of the general public involved in court cases can now register for a unique service offered by the Dubai Courts Department, allowing them secure and online access to case files, trial date information and the progress of cases, said Khaleej Times.
Litigants, lawyers and law firms will be given user names and passwords after registration for the service. The service is available on the court department's web site www1.dubaicourt.gov.ae.
Ahmad Atiq Al Marri, Director-General of the Dubai Courts Department was quoted by Dubai-based paper as saying “this online service has been a long-standing desire of people dealing with our department. With this great leap forward, the department has completed its preparations to work within the framework of the electronic government on strong and stable foundations. Lawyers can log on to the service through the Dubai Government Internet portal to obtain all information they need concerning court cases they are working on."
A list of Dubai-registered lawyers is also available on the site. It includes the name of the law firm, the lawyer's name, telephone and fax numbers and addresses.
Although access will be limited to cases in which litigants and lawyers are involved, they will also have access to other related cases and case files, said the report – Albawaba.com
