The Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday sentenced an Egyptian housecleaner to three months in jail for harassing a Palestinian woman, reported the Gulf News.

Salah A. A., 25, left his job at a property maintenance company but found work when he was asked to maintain and clean a flat by its owner eight months ago, said the paper.

Salah said that he fell in love with Hana, one of the occupants of the flat, the first time he saw her and admitted that he obtained the house telephone number and her mobile number from the real estate company.

Hana is a 25-year-old jewelry saleswoman, who lived there with a number of other women.

The court heard that he then began harassing her by calling from different public telephones to express his feelings of love and try to convince her to marry him. Hana, who is already engaged, asked Salah not to call her but he continued and asked her to break off her engagement and marry him instead. Later, he started arriving at the house at night saying he wanted to clean it.

On July 1 Hana reported Salah to the police and he was made to sign an understanding that he would stop harassing her.

Salah did not stop and on July 15, he threw stones at the window of her room to attract her attention, the court heard.

Hana opened the window and saw Salah standing on a car under the window. He ran away but returned later and knocked at the door.

Hana called the building's watchman who detained him until the police arrived.

Salah was convicted of harassment, entering another's property without permission and absconding from his sponsor.

He will be deported after serving the three month sentence, said the paper – Albawaba.com
