Dubai banned smoking in taxis starting from Saturday, an official said.
Director of Dubai Transport Corporation Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla said the ban was in line with protecting public health and the environment as well recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Dubai Department of Health and Medical Services, according to the official Emirati news agency (WAM).
All taxi drivers in Dubai have been informed of the ban, he said, adding that violators will face a Dh100 ($27) fine - Albawaba.com
