Goat milk combination is the best alternative to mother's milk and contains the same important components” - Dr. Colin Prosser
Great Links, a pharmaceutical company based at the Dubai Airport Freezone, in conjunction with Dairy Goat Co-Operative (DGC), New Zealand, recently held the simultaneous launch of the natural goat milk blend in the UAE, GCC and other Middle East countries.
Dr. Colin Prosser, head of research studies and development of goat milk in New Zealand’s (DGC), noted that the baby milk blend made in New Zealand had undergone extensive research and studies to confirm that it contains the same important elements in breast milk, making it the ideal alternative for supplementing mother’s breast-feeding in case of non-availability or insufficiency.
During a presentation attended by a number of officials of the Dubai Health Department and a number of consultants and specialist in children's milk and pharmacists, Dr. Prosser noted that the product has been manufactured since 1981 and was in great demand in a number of European countries and has become “the ideal alternative for non-available breastfeeding, which is the basis for the healthy growth of our children."
"Laboratory experiments and evidence have shown that baby milk blend made from fresh goat's milk is beneficial as it has nutrition elements similar to that in mothers’ milk”, Dr. Prosser said.
"It was essential for the product to meet the standards of health and nutrition known for international health institutions such as the World Health Organization", he stated.
Dr. Prosser said the product has the highest percentage with some components added to increase the effectiveness, usefulness and nutrition value, such as lactose, vegetable oils to increase the fatty acids, vitamins and mineral elements to meet the requirements of food and health for children who have been deprived of breast-feeding.
He added that the fatty acids in Golden Goat blend make the child more stable, as the product facilitates the digestion process and helps the body to absorb important food items resulting in healthy growth of the child.
Dr. Prosser said the product contains some elements that are vital to prevention of infections and other diseases in the initial period of the child’s growth.
He highlighted the need to market this product in the Gulf region and the Middle East through Great Links Company, which has the capability, resources and knowledge of the markets.
Dr. Awad Al Atta, the general manager of Great Links, said: "We are delighted to offer the “Golden Goat” blend for children in the Gulf, the Middle East and Africa regions, in cooperation with the Dairy Goat Co-Operative {DGC) of New Zealand. We are committed to enhance our children's health and contribute to their growth. Children, after all are the future of nations."
The product is launched in the region after more than two decades of its introduction, production and distribution in a number of countries in the mid- 80s.
Dr. Atta said, "It took us more than five years to persuade the New Zealand –based Dairy Goat Co-operative to distribute the product in the Middle East ,Arab and the African region and we succeeded in that, so today, we are distributing the product in these countries after obtaining permits from the health institutions in those countries.
“We have followed the unprecedented success of the product in European markets such as England, Australia, New Zealand, US and East Asia, which encouraged us to try to make this product available in the local markets”, Dr. Awad added.
"The huge response the product has received from industry professionals like doctors, pharmacists, social care workers and mothers from the very beginning bodes well for the health of children in the future.”
"We believe in the importance of breastfeeding, if this is not possible for some reason, the best alternative is “Golden Goat” as it contains the important proteins for our children’s health according to lab tests and evidence."
He said Golden Goat milk is currently available in pharmacies and supermarkets at reasonable prices, despite scarcity and high cost of basic materials for these products. The demand results from mothers’ awareness of the importance of this product which we hope will be the solution to many of the problems faced by some mothers who do not meet their children’s need due to health, sometimes work, conditions”.
