Drydocks World, the ship repairing and building arm of Dubai World, announced that it will actively participate in the Dubai International Boat Show 2008 (DIBS), the largest and most established boat show in the Middle East. The event is to be held at Dubai International Marine Club - Mina Seyahi – from March 11-15. The participation is in line with Drydocks World’s goal of establishing itself as a leading international player in ship building, repair, conversion and other marine-related activities.

The DIBS provides an important platform for Drydocks World Dubai, a subsidiary of Drydocks World, to showcase its global credentials, skills and 25-year experience in the field of basic marine engineering. The company’s strategic location in Dubai, coupled with its management of the luxury yacht dedicated companies, Platinum Yachts and Platinum Yacht Management, have paved the way for promising ventures in one of the fastest growing leisure crafts manufacturing sectors in the Middle East and the world as a whole.

Through its active participation in the event, Drydocks World Dubai seeks to shed light on the latest innovations in marine equipment, supplies and services. It will also be an opportunity to highlight its huge potentials to cater to the European market and meet the needs of yacht owners in the Middle East region, who account for 30 percent of Asian super yacht owners. The company’s latest high-end facility in Dubai Maritime City will help it deal with the clients’ requirements and enhance its image as a unit that offers skilful, sophisticated and state-of-the-art manufacturing of yachts.

At the boat show Drydocks World Dubai is setting up a distinguished pavilion which will feature a presentation of all the works carried out so far and a demonstration of its advance capability to implement massive and high quality projects, especially its success in completing the building of “Motor Yacht Dubai,” the largest private motor yacht ever built, over and above other achievements, such as the 90-metre long Dubawi, the 45m long Dubai Magic and the proposed 83m super yacht project Triton.
