ALBAWABA - A merchant vessel was attacked in the Red Sea, leading to massive damage to the ship with no injuries reported, according to United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

Several attacks have been reported across the Red Sea on passing vessels and were carried out by Houthis, who say that they are acting in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza against the latest Israeli brutal aggression on Gaza.

UKMTO reported that the attack occurred west of the Yemeni port city of Hodeida. "The Master of a merchant vessel reports being hit by an uncrewed aerial system (UAS), resulting in damage to the vessel. All crew members are reported safe, and the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call," UKMTO report said.

Earlier on Saturday, the US Military Central Command (CENTCOM) carried out several retaliatory attacks against Houthi sites, saying it had destroyed three nautical drones belonging to the group over the past 24 hours.

The CENTCOM strikes were followed by two major military operations in the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea, which have been declared the Houthis. The military spokesman for the organization, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, issued a statement outlining the assaults.

According to Brigadier General Saree, ballistic missiles were used in the initial operation to attack the cargo ship "Transworld Navigator" in the Arabian Sea. The ship owner allegedly broke a rule against accessing ports in occupied Palestine, which prompted this assault.

In the second operation, ballistic and cruise missiles were used to attack the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, an aircraft carrier, north of the Red Sea. Saree emphasized that the actions were intended to promote the Palestinian cause and said that both strikes were effective.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 37,551+ people, with more than 85,911+ injuries.

Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
