A Cairo court will hold a session on June 24 to look into a case filed by Khaled Mahmoud, owner of an Egyptian import/export company, against Kuwait Airways (KA) for a delayed flight, according to a report by the Gomhoriyya Arabic daily.
Mahmoud is claiming five million pounds in compensation for financial and moral damage he claims to have incurred due to the delay of a KA flight.
The disgruntled businessman says the tardy trip resulted in the loss of some of his belongings, which in turn led to his failure to seal a deal to import German water pumps worth of $20 million.
The Egyptian claims that he received an invitation from a UAE-based company to meet a German investor and conclude an agreement for the equipment. He bought a KA ticket, but claims the plane’s departure from Cairo airport was four hours late.
Furthermore, says Mahmoud, he stayed for a few hours in Kuwait International Airport’s transit area, where he lost the drafts of the contracts, his PC and some of the deal’s documents.
This caused the failure of the deal, he says, and in turn damaged the reputation of his company – not to mention the loss of travel and accommodation expenses he paid to host the German investor -Albawaba.com
