ALBAWABA - Widespread media attention has been generated by the altercation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump inside the Oval Office. According to sources, the Trump administration is thinking about making significant changes to U.S. policy toward Ukraine.
Sources close to Trump told Bloomberg that Washington may distance itself from Zelensky while increasing pressure on Kyiv. According to European sources, who called the meeting a diplomatic catastrophe, Trump has already made the decision to "sell out" Ukraine, indicating a change in U.S. foreign policy.
A Contentious Meeting and a Cancelled Contract
What started out as a diplomatic discussion on Friday night swiftly descended into a heated argument between the two presidents. Trump insisted that Ukraine commit to a peace agreement with Russia and accused Zelensky of not being appreciative of U.S. assistance.
The dispute became so heated that Zelensky withdrew without signing an anticipated agreement that would have given the United States access to Ukraine's rare minerals in return for ongoing military assistance, and Trump called off a planned joint news conference.
Trump Is Considering Retaliation
Trump is considering possible punitive measures, including as cutting off all military assistance to Ukraine, a senior U.S. official told Axios. According to the Washington Post, this move may also result in the suspension of billions of dollars' worth of supplies of weapons, including missiles, vehicles, ammunition, and radars.
What Made Trump Furious?
According to sources, emotions erupted when Zelensky ignored Vice President JD Vance's comments for American assistance. Zelensky was allegedly challenged by Vance, who said:
"Have you even said thank you once during this entire meeting?"
Trump was also said to have been annoyed by Zelensky's outfit selection, believing the Ukrainian leader's lack of a formal suit to be disrespectful.
