Diabetes and obesity-related diseases are on the increase in Bahrain and other Gulf states at an alarming rate, an Indian doctor was quoted by the Gulf Daily as saying Tuesday.
Bombay-based consultant naturopath, Medha Mehendale, attributed the increase to unsound food habits and lack of physical exercises, said the news service.
"To stay fit one must look after ones body," she said.
Medha said herbal products had been found very effective in the treatment of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis and several obesity-related diseases.
"I have been touring various Gulf countries over the past several years, giving guidance to people of all ages on health related problems through consultations and free public lectures," she said -- Albawaba.com
