DEWA Launches The Best Consumer Award
The award recognizes the consumer who achieves the highest savings in electricity and water consumption
Along its participation in The Water, Electricity and Environment Technologies, WETEX 2008, DEWA's Customer Relations Department launched today "THE Best Consumer Award". The award is targeted to recognize residential subscribers who achieve the highest savings in electricity and water consumption during a specific time period. The award is expected to draw a large number of participants, specially after DEWA's implementation of the slabs tariff system, as a new method for charging electricity and water consumption in the Emirate.
The award is considered part of DEWA;s Customer Relations Department activities programs, targeted towards raising Dubai's community awareness of the need to conserve electricity and water consumption. The residential sector was targeted due to the high number of households in the emirate relative to the units in other sectors.
The total value of the award is AED 22,000, divided over 13 winners. The first one will be rewarded with AED 5,000, while the second gets AED 4,000, and AED 3,000 for the third winner. AED 1,000 prizes are going to be given to the following 10 contestants.
To be able to participate in the award contest, contestants must fill in a special form, which includes his name, address, and DEWA subscription number. Through this, DEWA conservation team will be able to track the consumption of household subscribers, and compare it to last year's consumption, to determine the winners. Subscription forms could be obtained from The Conservation Stand at WETEX, or from any DEWA office, or can download it from: www.dewa.gov.ae.
"Launching the Best Consumer Award comes in line with WETEX 2008 spirit, which is dedicated to showcase electricity and water technologies, and ways to conserve them", said Amal Koshak, Head of Investors Services at DEWA's Customer Relations Department. "Launching the award has more meanings as well, when the world is about to celebrate the Water Global Day, the day the UN specified to mark the need to conserve and provide water in all of the world".
DEWA has introduced the Best Consumer Award in previous years, which saw enrollment of a large number of participants.
In line with its other responsibilities, DEWA is executing an electricity and water conservation program in Dubai. The program includes schools, hotels, Dubai government departments, and the industrial sector.
"We are confident that such an award program will aid in the conservation program which DEWA intends to make part of the daily life of Dubai's population, and enterprises. Form what we have seen in the previous years, we will see large participation from subscribers in DEWA services:, Koshak concluded.
