No happy ending is in sight for Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, especially after the actor filed for a divorce from his wife of nine years.
Quaid filed for divorce Monday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, as the injured party in the failed marriage, according to the Associated Press.
The split has caught many by surprise, as the two have long been considered one of Hollywood’s sweetest and most reliable couple.
AP reported that Quaid’s decision comes two weeks after the couple’s publicist announced that they had been separated for nearly a month.
Since then rumors have been flying in the tabloids linking Ryan to her costar in the upcoming movie Proof of Life, which is being filmed in London.
Russel Crowe and Ryan’s new movie is directed by Taylor Hackford (The Devil’s Advocate).
Somewhat, ironically, Proof has Crowe falling for Ryan’s married character while the two try to negotiate the release of her husband, who’s been captured by mercenaries.
Crushed Valentine
Ryan and Quaid have one son, and first met in 1987 while making the comedy-adventure Innerspace. They teamed up again a year later on DOA.
Ryan, the star of hits like When Harry Met Sally, You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle, has become Hollywood’s favorite sweetheart since marrying Quaid on Valentine’s Day in 1991.
Quaid’s recent hits include the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap and Frequency among his recent hits—albawaba.com.
