In a surprising move, the veteran British band Depeche Mode on Tuesday declared the cancelation of the much awaited concert in the Greek capital of Athens. The members of the band are currently on a worldwide tour to promote their new album.
Officially, the band's representative announced that the leading singer Dave Gahan is suffering from a virus and chances he will recover soon are good. He was hospitalized, according to the representative. However, as the details have been sketchy a lot of other rumors flourished. According to some sources, Gahan decided to cancel the concert after a quarrel with his wife. No confirmation for this report so far.
It should be mentioned that the farce in Greece, comes three days after a successful show of Depeche Mode in Israel's National Stadium, located near Tel Aviv. Reports from Israel suggested the show there was also on the verge of cancelation due to the death of the father of one of the band's members.
