The Daesh militant behind Kuwait's deadly bombing criticised Shia Muslims in an audio statement released by the group following Friday’s attack, according to Reuters.

The recording consisted of verses from the Quran along with a warning against Shia followers for “insulting” Islam.

Kuwaiti officials have identified the bomber as Saudi national, Abdul-Muhsen al-Qabaa, who killed 27 worshipers in the Imam Sadiq mosque by blowing himself up during Friday prayers.

Authenticity of the audio recording has yet to be verified, Reuters reports.
