Reuters reports that a Daesh militant originally from the US turned himself in to Kurdish forces in Iraq on Monday.

CBS and Kurdish news sources identified the militant as Muhammad Jamal Amin, a 27-year-old from Virginia, of Palestinian-Iraqi hertitage.

According to Kurdish sources, Amin approached the military forces outside of Sinjar. He identified himself and "wanted to turn himself in." He was attempting to return to Turkey after fighting with Daesh for several months.

Neither the US Embassy in Baghdad nor the Pentagon have commented on Amin's situation.
