ALBAWABA - According to the Omani Maritime Security Center, a Comoros-flagged oil tanker, had capsized off the major industrial port of Duqm, coastal strip of Oman.
The Falcon Prestige tanker was reportedly headed to Aden, Yemen when it had capsized. Search and rescue operations were launched in coordination with local authorities.
Reports revealed that the tanker had a total of 16 crew members, 13 Indian nationals, and 3 other Sri Lankans.
According to maritime statistics, the vessel is a 2007-built oil products tanker measuring 117 meters in length. Usually, these little tankers are utilized for brief coastal trips.
According to shipping data provided by LSEG, the tanker overturned off the coast of Duqm, the main industrial port in Oman, en route to the port of Aden in Yemen.
Situated near the main oil and gas mining operations of the sultanate, including a sizable oil refinery that is a component of Duqm's expansive industrial zone—Oman's largest single economic project—the port of Duqm is situated on the southwest coast of the country.
