ALBAWABA - The United States opened an investigation regarding the unauthorized leak of classified documents related to the Israeli plan to attack Iran, The Associated Press reported citing three American officials.
According to officials, the leaked documents were attributed to the US Geospatial Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency. They were first shared on Telegram platfrom.
The papers confirmed that the Netanyahu government is working and processing a military attack on Iran in response to the latter's October 1 attack on Israel.
AP further noted that top-secret documents are shared with the US, the UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
On October 1, Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles targeting Israel in response to the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, former leader of the Hamas group, in Tehran on July 31 and Hezbollah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah on September 27.
Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed that the US had alerted Israeli officials earlier that day about Iran’s imminent plans to launch missiles toward Israel, emphasizing that any such attack would have "serious repercussions."
