A car bomb near a car repair shop in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad killed seven people Wednesday, Iraqi officials told the Associated Press.
Security officials said the explosion occured around noon on Wednesday in the city's eastern district of Talibiyah, wounding at least 14 people and damaging surrounding shops and cars. Police forces sealed off the area following the incident. Medical sources, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed casualty numbers to the AP.
While the blast has so far been unclaimed, Daesh regularly carries out such attacks in areas it controls across Iraq. The war-torn country has seen streaks of severe violence against civilians in recent months, with a recent UN figure saying some 1,000 civilians were killed across Iraq in a single month.
Also on Wednesday, another blast killed at least five and injured 21 in Iraq's northern province of Kirkuk.
