Two separate car accidents in the Iranian city of Saveh on Sunday left 12 people dead and 20 others injured, reported the official Iranian news agency, IRNA, citing a press report.
The Persian daily, Resalat, said that the first accident involved a trailer truck and a car, which crashed into each other on the road linking the cities of Saveh and Salafchegan. Four people, including three soldiers, were killed, the paper said.
In the second accident, a car and a bus collided head-on on the road between Saveh and Booin-Zahra.
Eight people were killed, including a soldier.
Their ages ranged between six to 38, Resalat said.
Police have blamed carelessness on the part of the drivers for the accidents, it added.
Iran has some of the most hazardous roads in the world.
Every year, an average of 200,000 accidents are reported.
