Syrian sources close to the political leadership said that a cabinet reshuffle is expected soon in the country, which will include important ministerial and departmental changes and involve 56 director generals of services and economic establishments in the country.
It was revealed previously that a cabinet reshuffling would not take place for at least one year after the date of the present cabinet formation of so that the new ministers who took posts in Mustapha Miro’s cabinet could retire as ministers.
The last reshuffle took place shortly before the death of the late president Hafiz Assad last June.
Syrian sources have today revealed the changes in the presidential press office where Jubran Koriyeh, the long time Syrian Presidential Speaker, was laid off without naming a successor. Kuriyeh has occupied this post, which is considered to be a highly sensitive one in Syrian politics, since the eighties.
