A British teacher held hostage by a Libyan faction has been released, according to British media reports Sunday.
David Bolam, 63, had been teaching at the now-shuttered International School Benghazi when he was captured by militants in May, the BBC said. The BBC said a ransom had been paid, and that local political groups had worked to arranged Bolam's release.
Citing a Foreign Office spokeswoman, Reuters reported that Bolam had been reunited with his family. The Sunday Times said the captured teacher had appeared in a militant video in August asking Prime Minister David Cameron to arrange a prisoner swap so Bolam could go home.
The BBC said Bolam had worked in Libya for seven years, and that It was unclear how much money had changed hands, but that the Foreign Office was not involved in the deal.
