The British Business Group, Dubai and the Northern Emirates (BBG) welcomed two senior representatives from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, at a lunch for members and guests on Wednesday 27 February.
Dr Belaid Rettab, Senior Executive Director, Data Management and Research, and Hassan Al Hashemi, Director, External Relations, shared Dubai Chamber’s vision for the role and importance of business in the unprecedented development of Dubai.
Guests at the lunch learnt more about the unique research and statistics developed by the Chamber which businesses in the Emirate can use to enhance their profitability.
“Under its new vision, Dubai Chamber is committed to becoming the best chamber in the world,” said Hassan Al Hashemi. “We have always been a service provider, but now the challenge is to become an advisor and an indispensable source of competitive advantage to the business community.
“Our mission of representing, protecting and promoting the interests of the business community in Dubai has seen the formation of 34 business groups operating under the Dubai Chamber umbrella. The BBG is one such group that has been very actively contributing in the remarkable growth of business for British companies in the region.
“Dubai Chamber coordinates with the BBG in its endeavour to promote its members’ business and provides them with value-added services as well as attracting more British investors wanting to benefit from Dubai Government’s support to Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs).”
Said Dr Rettab, “Conducting research and studies to help identify business opportunities abroad for members is one of the strategic actions for Dubai Chamber’s data management department. We endeavour to rise above the image of a basic service provider by offering value-added support to businesses in their chosen areas of operation.”
“The BBG has started this year with an outstanding quality of speakers and Dr. Rettab and Hassan Al Hashemi add significantly to that,” said Mark Beer, Chairman and CEO of the BBG. “Our members benefit from the insights about the future direction of Dubai which we receive from leaders such as H.E. Hamad Buamim, Director General of Dubai Chamber, who are instrumental in shaping the Emirate.
“The Dubai Chamber and the BBG has a long-standing relationship which dates back to the Chamber issuing us with the first ever business group licence in the late 1980s. We heard how the Chamber has changed and that they are here to help the business community grow; our members were all encouraged to communicate with the Chamber to build relations and achieve further successes in Dubai,” said Beer.
Now in its 20th year, the BBG is recognised as one of the largest and most active business groups in the Middle East. With more than 1,000 members, it holds more than 70 networking events, forums and seminars each year and continues to attract world-class speakers.
