Saudi Arabia announced a five-day ceasefire in Yemen to allow humanitarian aid access to civilians affected by the war, AP reported Thursday.

Foreign Minister Abdel al-Jubeir made the announcement at a news conference with US Secretary of State John Kerry. But it's unclear when the ceasefire would start.

Aid groups said millions of civilians in Yemen are out of basic needs like food, water and fuel. Al-Jubeir said he hopes Saudi Arabia's cease on airstrikes will be followed by a halt of Houthi assaults on the ground.
