According to an Iraqi military spokesman,  Daesh targeted military forces in Anbar province with multiple suicide bombing attacks, leaving at least 17 soldiers dead, reports Associated Press.

Joint Military Command spokesman Brig. Gen Saad Maan told Associated Press that the attacks occurred in the Daesh-held city of Fallujah late Tuesday night.

Daesh militants attacked under the cover of a sandstorm that engulfed almost the entirety of the war-torn country.

The attacks come days after Iraqi forces launched a military offensive to reclaim areas of western Anbar province from the Daesh militants.

On Tuesday the Iraqi army announced that a Daesh commander was killed during the clean up operation in northern province of Salahuddin.
