ALBAWABA - In a recent national address, President Joe Biden revealed his plans to approach Congress for an urgent budget to bolster the national security interests of the United States.
He emphasized the importance of supporting key allies such as Ukraine and Israel, claiming that such support would have far-reaching benefits for American security in the years to come.
Biden's detailed request, shared with Congress amidst discussions about aid to Ukraine and the ongoing selection of the new Speaker of the House, includes a budget increase of $105 billion.
Of this amount, a significant $61.4 billion has been earmarked for addressing the situation in Ukraine. Additionally, President Biden is seeking $14.3 billion in support for Israel. To address humanitarian crises, including those in Gaza, an allocation of $9 billion has been proposed.
Furthermore, in a diplomatic move, President Biden welcomed Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, to the White House.
During their meeting, Charles Michel emphasized the urgent need for strengthened cooperation between the European Union and the United States, emphasizing that the world is currently confronting unprecedented challenges, requiring a robust EU-US alliance to overcome them.
