Best dressed Bunnies in town
Frocks, skirts, bow ties, clips, and even aprons are sold at a unique kiosk at Modhesh Little Trader’s zone and they cater exclusively to rabbits

As they trot and hop in the little laced dresses and refreshingly cute aprons, the children admire their bounce. They prop on their feet, nibble at the greens on the table and enjoy the attention being showered on them. The rabbits at the Hello Bunny store at Modhesh Little Trader zone seem to be celebrities in their own right. They are a sight of carefree abode and wait eagerly for someone to take to their fancy and give them a loving home.

The rabbits come from different breeds of the world – Holland, Belgium, and some local too. Some are black, some brown, while others are white with patches of brown on their fur. The store sells not just the pet but also all accessories that the animal may require for its care and grooming like food, dress, cage, and cleaning utilities. Each bunny is sold at AED 250 each; there is also a package offer wherein the pet is sold with cage, one dress set and food for AED 390.

Mansoor Abdullah Al Gafari, attendant at the stall said, “We always have a large audience for the rabbits at the stall. Some are even bought and taken home. It is important to understand the responsibility that comes with owning a pet. Rabbits are relatively easy to care for. We teach the basic care techniques to the potential buyers before we make the sale. If a problem should ever arise, we are always here at MFC for cross-reference, plus we have a store in Mirdif Dubai where customers can come by to clarify any questions or buy more pets. At that store we have a larger selection of animals – turtles, reptiles, birds, cats, dogs, hamsters, etc.”

“Adding a pet to the family gives the child a sense of responsibility. They feel that they are the caretakers for this being and develop their confidence and decision making capacities too. Rabbits need to be groomed – their fur brushed, nails clipped, eyes cleaned and the litter boxes emptied. Sometimes the child is too small to manage the pet alone, it should then be a joint effort, one that brings family members together,” Mansoor pointed out.

“As with any animal, or humans for that matter, each has its own personality. Some are active and crave attention. Some are shy or aloof. If a rabbit is shy, you need to make the effort to interact with it. Most importantly, love your rabbit. Whatever the colour, markings, or habits, all are of value and deserve our love and companionship. Each will enrich your life in its special way,” he concluded.
