A historical Arabian courtyard, abundant with stories and legends to tell, the hypnotizing scent of Oud mixed with the aromas of spicy Arabian coffee, the mesmerizing sounds of flutes permeating the air - a scene reminiscent of ancient Arabian tradition – encapsulated the rich heritage of Baume & Mercier, as it celebrated its 175th year anniversary.

VIPs, media and partners were invited to join Baume & Mercier at the celebratory event to reflect on the brand’s historical milestones of exceptional watch making, with the brand today continuing to make history with their inspiring creations.

The history of timekeeping and the inventions of watches and clocks is a long one.  Telling time has been a part of man's earliest recorded history and the development of the modern day watch and clock is a remarkable story. Baume & Mercier walked their guests, encompassing VIPs and media, through their own remarkable history at an exclusive event held at Sheikh Obaid Bin Thani’s House, at Dubai’s Heritage village.

As guests wandered through the historical Arabian house, which captures a glimpse of the traditional culture and lifestyle of Arabia, they were treated to an exclusive viewing of some of Baume & Mercier’s museum watch pieces that were displayed within different rooms of the house highlighting specific moments throughout the brand’s history from a 1920 ladies watch, the Marquise – the brand’s first feminine watch with slave-bangle bracelet - to the traditional Classic collection and the brand’s iconic Riviera pieces.

Baume & Mercier’s history has been marked by a series of profitable associations: with the Baume & Mercier team working together in total harmony, driven by a single aim: to manufacture watches of the highest quality.
As part of the event Baume & Mercier’s own Design Director, Alexandre Peraldi, flew over especially for the event to enlighten guests on the brand’s recognised creativity that has inspired design pieces across 175 years.

The event was held in collaboration with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, with Mr Abdulmagied Seddiqi attending the event along with some of their prestigious clientele. During the evening guests were entertained by a traditional Arabian band, Oud player and belly dancer or had the option of enjoying their destinies being told by a fortune teller or having their own special Henna design by a Henna artist.
