Bahrain’s telecom company, Batelco, launched its e-shop service on Monday, offering customers the chance to check and pay their bills, as well as order new services over the internet, reported the Gulf Daily News.

"An automatic payment facility using credit cards is still under development, but is expected to be available within the next two months,” said Batelco's chief executive, Andrew Hearn.

“But customers can already check their bill status, find information on the latest services and order them on-line,” he told the paper.

They can also file complaints, report faults on-line and provide other feedback.

Hearn said that the website meant customers would no longer need to stand in long lines at customer service centers.

“The objective is to reach out to our customers and make our products and services accessible to them when they want them, from wherever they are.” – Albawaba.com
