The Labor Party announced Friday that it is seeking to hold several televised debates between its candidate for prime minister, Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and the Likud candidate, party chairman Ariel Sharon, reported The Jerusalem Post.
Labor made the announcement at a press conference in Tel Aviv at which it also unveiled its main slogans for the election campaign, Israel Radio reported.
No response from Likud campaign headquarters was reported.
Earlier the same day, Haaretz reported that the head of the public relations for the re-election campaign of Barak, Elie Goldschmidt, announced that the Labor party will act to reveal the classified portion of the 'Kahan Commission' report on the 1982 Sabra and Shatilla massacres in Beirut in which Christian militias slaughtered hundreds of Palestinians – Several Sources.
