Bahrain on Monday urged the international community to stop Israeli "brutality" and help lift the siege imposed on the Palestinians, reported the Gulf Daily News.
The UN's permanent representative to Bahrain, Saed Mohammed Faihani, said the “current inhuman situation in the Occupied Territories is undermining the economic and social fabric of Palestinian society.”
Delivering Bahrain’s speech to the UN Economic and Social Council in Geneva, he highlighted the tragic plight of Palestinian people, saying that 360,000 were now unemployed out of an active population of 625,000 people.
He also warned that Israel might be taking unilateral measures to impose political, economic and geographical separation, the paper said.
“Israel is trying to create a new [negative] situation through a draconian blockade, confiscating lands, expanding settlements, collective punitive measures, building peripheral highways, and changing the demographic [profile] in Palestinian towns including occupied Jerusalem,” he said – Albawaba.com
