Bahrain is to build an orphanage in Jerusalem following the counting of votes cast for the Al Quds project, it was announced Thursday, according to Gulf Daily News on Friday.
Backing for the orphanage project among Bahraini and expatriate voters was 33.2 percent, with 27.7 percent backing a hospital ward, 16.1 percent a commercial enterprise and 5 percent agricultural projects.
The month-long vote, which ended on Wednesday, was held to determine the nature of the project in support of Jerusalem which will bear Bahrain’s name.
The paper quoted secretary of the National Committee for the Support of Al Quds Majid Al Nuami as saying that the committee would now take the necessary measures to implement the orphanage project.
Meanwhile, the committee will also continue its campaign to raise BD1 million from citizens and residents in support of Jerusalem, said GND – Albawaba.com
