At least 11 soldiers were killed by separate avalanches in Azerbaijan in the last fortnight, the defense ministry said Wednesday.
"At least 11 soldiers have died after being swept away by avalanches in the last two weeks," said defence ministry spokesman Ramiz Melikov.
But the bodies of only four soldiers have so far been recovered from beneath the snow, the spokesman added.
The avalanches occurred in a mountainous region of the former Soviet republic near the border with Armenia -- BAKU (AFP)
