The Israeli army will from now on take the "initiative" in clashes with the Palestinians with the Tanzim armed militia a prime target, Army Chief of Staff Shaul Mofaz said Sunday.
"The army will no longer just have a policy of response, but will put into effect a policy of initiative, with its objective being Tanzim," Mofaz told a meeting of Israel's joint chiefs in Tel Aviv.
Mofaz's remarks were broadcast on Israeli public television, which did not give any further details.
