Ailing Palestinian president, Yasser Arafat will be flown to Jordan early Friday morning and then to Paris, where he will get medical treatment, his doctors announced Thursday.

France has agreed to allow Arafat in for treatment, and the French presidency said France would send Arafat a special plane, The AP reported.

Palestinian sources said Thursday that Arafat was in serious but stable condition. One of the doctors treating Arafat said the PA leader was suffering from a potentially fatal blood disorder that would require more tests outside the West Bank to determine the cause, according to AFP

"His blood cells which should normally destroy microbes are currently destroying blood platelets," the doctor was quoted as saying by the news agency.

"The doctors think that he must be transferred abroad for further examinations in order to receive the care needed, for he could die if the condition persists," the doctor said.

Israel has promised that Arafat will be permitted to return to the West Bank if he needs to go abroad for medical treatment. (albawaba.com)
