Arab legislators on Monday called for a "firm" stance to eradicate terrorism "which has no religion or a certain state". At the opening of the 46th session of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (APU) in Algeria on Monday, Speaker of the Algerian People's National Council, Amar Saedani expressed hope of the Arab capability to confront challenges facing the Arab nation.
According to KUNA, he also called on the Arabs to use "balanced and unimprovised vision" to confront the "Israeli zionist terrorism and forced immigration of Palestinians."
On his part, Algeria's Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Altayeb Louh told the gathering that Algeria keen on fighting terrorism, recalling "the reunion and reconciliation" efforts achieved in his country with Islamists.
Arab League Secretary General amr Moussa also addressed the conferees, stressing the need that Arabs work together to prevent "a few deviant groups from attaching terrorism to the Arab nation and Islam".
Moussa said counter-terrorism efforts should loom high on the Arab agenda, warning that turmoil in Iraq needs not to be neglected.
