The Arab League on Sunday made a tentative statement of support towards forthcoming Israeli-Palestinian talks.
Mohammed Sabih, deputy secretary general for Palestinian affairs and occupied Arab territories, told reporters that The League "is forming a political support network for the Palestinian side in case it accepts to go to the negociations with the Israeli side".
However Mr Sabih expressed reservations about Israeli intentions, commenting that "many in the Israeli government do not want an Arab peace initiative", and said the League would be following Israel's movements carefully, so that the talks were not just "negociations for the sake of negociations, going round in a vicious circle".
"This could be the last chance to revive the stalled peace process", he added.
Negociations between Israelis and Palestinians have been on hold since September 2010, when Israel said it would continue to build settlements in the West Bank.
