The Arab Federation of Journalists has called for measures to combat normalization with Israel, and is pushing for a blacklist of journalists who have ties with the Jewish state, a report said Saturday.
The federation wrapped up a three-day conference in Amman with a statement published by the Jordanian press pledging undivided support for the Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation.
"The ninth conference of the federation instructed its general secretariat to put together a document specifying the meaning of normalization, ways of combatting it and how to sanction members who normalize," it said.
It stressed it would "take to task any one who violates its positions".
It also repeated its call for "(Arab) unions and newspaper federation to inform the federation of the names of those (journalists) who normalize in order to issue a special list across the Arab world."
The meeting also called on the international community to press the UN Human Rights Commission to implement its recent decision to investigate alleged Israeli human rights violations in the Palestinian territories.
The UN forum's members also agreed to ask UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson to urgently visit Palestinian territories to "take stock" of human rights violations.
More than 140 people, most of them Arabs, have been killed in one month of clashes with Israeli troops.
The journalists' federation also urged Arab countries to break the UN-imposed blockade on Iraq and installed its president, veteran Egyptian journalist Ibrahim Nafeh, for another term – AMMAN (AFP)
